What's Happening (September 2009)

WeSearch is...

  • Looking for interested undergraduates at NUS, NTU or SMU who would like to engage in community research - either primary (hittin' the ground) or secondary (sifting through existing research);
  • Compiling and synthesizing research conducted within NUS that would be relevant to community organizations - including term papers, Independent Study Module (ISM) papers, Honours theses and Masters theses;
  • Developing research methodologies that are academically rigorous, yet appropriate for community researchers (with no research background) working on their own time;
  • Conducting a survey with local community groups to find out what their research needs are.

Welcome to WeSearch

WeSearch is an independent youth research collective, founded by third-year students Heather Chi, Joel Chow, Edwin Yeo and Michelle Tan. We aim to connect undergraduates in NUS interested in practical, action-oriented community research with civil society organizations requiring research for education and advocacy efforts, in two main ways:

First, consolidating the excellent socially-relevant research that has been done by students over the years in the form of term papers, Independent Study Modules and theses; and

Second, raising awareness amongst the student body about research needs in the local community.
